I think I may have dragged myself well and truly out of my comfort zone, up the road and disappeared into the distance with this next activity…
I’ve got two tickets to see the Basel Symphony Orchestra – I’m not a very musical person in any sense of the word, but I received an e-mail last night offering me tickets to see a local performance. Tickets that would normally cost £52, so why wouldn’t I give it a shot? I think art and literature can be incredibly powerful and believe we should all be open to new experiences.
I’ll be supporting my local venue and trying to broaden my mind, but I’m not convinced I even understood the Guardian article about the performance! http://www.theguardian.com/music/tomserviceblog/2014/mar/11/symphony-guide-john-adams-harmonielehre-tom-service However I did understand the person who described it as ‘shamelessly beautiful’, what better review could there be?
So will I understand/enjoy the performance? Only time will tell, but it should certainly be an experience!
