Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday after the commercialism of Black Friday it’s a chance to give back: a global day of Giving.
This event was launched in the US in 2012 and is now coming here for the first time, hot on the heels of the madness that was the past weekend!
You don’t have to give money. Your act of giving could be anything from helping a stranger, volunteering for your favourite charity, donating your old items of clothing to a charity shop to well, whatever else you can think of! You can use time, money or your voice to support the causes that matter most to you and help others.
For my part I decided to visit the Charities Aid Foundation https://www.cafonline.org/about-us/policy-and-campaigns/giving-tuesday-2014/giving-tuesday-for-individuals.aspx and find a new charity to support.
My nearest event is taking place in London and supporting The Poppy Factory, you can find out all about them here: http://www.poppyfactory.org/ However I’m not going to able to get involved in that – it’s not quite close enough…
I also used the CAF’s charity search function and found out about the Cherish Dementia Holiday Trust, a small charity, this is their website: http://www.cherishdementiaholidaytrust.co.uk/
I have made a direct donation to this charity.
