So after today’s visit to the shops I think I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping, whilst in Waterstones paying for some gifts for my nieces and nephew, I put some money into the Children’s Reading Fund collection box on the counter.
The money raised is to help disadvantaged children, particularly those in care and details about the fundraising on their website includes the following statistic:
A child in care is more likely to go to prison than university.
That’s pretty depressing and I really hope they are able to make a difference. So if you’re in Waterstones doing your Christmas shopping please pop some change in the collection box.
