This year as we commemorate the beginning of WW1 there have been lots of different opportunities to remember; I particularly liked this one and couldn’t resist being part of such a beautiful and powerful act of remembrance at the Tower of London.
Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red
Don’t miss our evolving installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, marking the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins, with setting by stage designer Tom Piper, 888,246 ceramic poppies will progressively fill the Tower’s famous moat.
A poppy costs £25 and 10% plus any proceeds from the sale are split between six different service charities. Once the installation is taken down I’ll receive my poppy – a permanent reminder of the human cost of WW1.
